Part-time Picture Framer

Larry Kanfer Gallery

Do you like working with your hands? Want to work in an artistic environment? Can you work in a fast paced environment and possess strong attention to detail in your work? The picture framer is responsible for ensuring that a quality finished piece is produced in a timely manner. We are looking for someone who is responsible and has a strong work ethic, including organization and multi-tasking skills.

Tasks will include, but are not limited to, cutting mats, building frames, and stretching canvas. This is a part-time position. Hours are flexible between 9 and 5, Monday through Saturday.

Framing experience is required.

Arts Education Coordinator, Michigan City

POSITION: Education Coordinator, Full-time--some evenings and week-ends   Salaried Position, reports to: Executive Director   

Educational Requirements: Degree required in the arts or education    Other Requirements: Expertise in Microsoft Office, audio-visual equipment; Strong organizational, budgeting and management skills; Experience with staff or volunteer supervision

Responsibilities and Qualifications

Art Classes

  • Develops visual, performing, music art class opportunities for adults and pre-school, elementary and/or adolescent aged children  
  • Recruits, hires and supervises all contractual instructors   
  • Provides oversight to the class registration process   
  • Maintains statistics by class income, expenditures and number of enrollees  

Outreach Programs

  • Develops and supervises on/off site art related programming with partnering social service/educational organizations  
  • Recruits, hires, trains, supervises and provides semi annual in-service for contractual instructors   
  • Sets program goals, creates outreach curricula and establishes schedules with  instructors   
  • Collaborates with LCA staff on developing funding opportunities

General

  • Collaborates with curator to develop exhibit related interpretive programs   
  • Develops and provides oversight to class, interpretive program and outreach budgets
  • Develops and conducts evaluation processes for all educational programming and performs a semi-annual department analysis
  • Develops and maintains positive relationships with public and private schools, and community organizations
  • Collaborates with marketing staff to develop a comprehensive public relations plan for outreach and educational programs   
  • Designs layout and installs community outreach art exhibits in the NIPSCO Education Area
  • Staffs and manages the volunteer recruitment for the children’s art tent at the Lakefront Art Festival
  • Serves as an art instructor, as needed
  • Assists the Executive Director as requested

Part-time Summer Internship at Golden Gallery

Chicago, Illinois

We are looking for a dependable Summer intern to help with day-to-day activities at Chicago's premiere art project space.

Located on landmark Newport Avenue, GOLDEN sets up shop on the first floor of a beautiful Chicago graystone, tying it to the city's rich tradition of apartment galleries, but doing so with a newfound refinement. The gallery emphasizes exciting new artists and projects in a new type of space that rides the line of alternative venue and commercial gallery.

Benefits: You will have the opportunity to gain first-hand knowledge about the gallery business by working closely with the director and assistant director. Internship is unpaid; reimbursement for lunch may be optional. Class Credit preferred.

Skills & Qualifications 

Duties: Greeting gallery visitors, coordinating press releases, conducting outreach and researching press contacts, documenting shows, help install/de-install shows, experience with Adobe Photoshop & Bridge preferred.

Commitment: Ideally, the intern would commit two half days a week. GOLDEN is open Friday-Sunday, 1-6pm **Attendance at gallery openings a must**
